Awakening

In my work and personal life, I am very interested in the Buddhist concept of awakening.

Awakening can have several meanings, but it generally means to wake up to our true nature. To become conscious of who we really are and, as a consequence, to let go of much of our suffering.

Awakening is sometimes referred to as enlightenment. A truly awakened person may be said to have reached enlightenment, but for most of us it’s a process of understanding who we are and letting go of the false stories that cause so much of our suffering. The journey to enlightenment is awakening.

I’m not a Buddhist and you don’t need to be a Buddhist to be interested in awakening. You simply need to be curious about your deeper nature and about the world around you. You need to be able to face difficult feelings and go to places psychologically that can be very tough. If you are brave enough to do this, you will find it more rewarding than you can imagine.
